The phenomenal success of the inaugural 2011 Tour de Free State has opened the doors for the second running of the annual event to be featured as a UCI 2.1 WE race by the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale), making it the only Olympic qualifying road cycling race for women in Africa.

Newly crowned South African Elite women’s road race champion, Ashleigh Moolman Pasio, claimed her first ever victory at the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour on Sunday. But it was a victory marred by the horrific finishing sprint crash that took down and injured all three of her Momentum Toyota teammates.

"Clothing Breach" debacle at SA Ladies Elite Championships Featured

The SA Ladies Elite road cycling championships held in Nelspruit on Saturday should have been a show case event for the cream of SA ladies elite cycling. The event also provided South Africa’s only registered UCI Professional team, Team bizhub-FCF with, an opportunity to show off their new team colours. Instead the race was turned into a ‘debacle’ due to a clothing breach by the UCI Lotto Ladies professional cycling team.
