Gravel Bike Launches Bring Obed TTR, Campagnolo Zonda Carbon and Reserve 48|53 GR

Gravel bike launches from Obed, Campagnolo and Reserve show how quickly the category keeps spreading. The latest releases cover drop-bar XC, all-road aero wheels and wide-rim gravel racing equipment.

Obed’s new TTR targets riders caught between a mountain bike and a gravel bike. Campagnolo’s Zonda Carbon All Road wheels move a familiar name into carbon all-road territory. Reserve’s 48|53 GR adds another high-end option for fast gravel on wider tires.

Gravel bike launches widen the drop-bar spectrum

The Obed TTR is a drop-bar XC bike, but it is not simply a converted mountain bike. Obed designed the frame around a drop-bar riding position from the start.

The silhouette still leans toward mountain bike territory. The TTR uses a deeply sloping top tube and Obed’s Detour Seatstays. Those stays bypass the seat tube, a layout intended to increase vertical compliance.

Most of the comfort and control come from more familiar off-road parts. The bike uses a RockShox SID SL Select fork with 100mm of travel. It also rolls on 2.4-inch Vittoria Mezcal mountain bike tires.

Obed builds each bike to order in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The TTR starts at $4,499 with a SRAM Apex Eagle mechanical drivetrain. The base build also includes the SID SL Select fork and Industry Nine 1/1 Sector Alloy wheels.

Buyers can add a dropper post or choose different drivetrain options. Obed lists a Shimano XT Di2 rear derailleur with GRX shifters as one option. Another combines a SRAM GX Eagle T-Type derailleur with Force levers.

The brand also allows further customization beyond those configurations. Riders can work with Obed to create a build outside the listed options.

Campagnolo Zonda Carbon All Road marks a shift

Campagnolo has also updated one of its long-running wheel names. Zonda has traditionally meant a more affordable entry into Campagnolo performance wheels. It has also been tied to aluminum road wheels.

The Zonda Carbon All Road changes that formula. The new wheelset uses a 50mm-deep carbon rim with a 25mm hooked internal width. Campagnolo positions it for tires from 29mm to 40mm.

The wheelset weighs a claimed 1,550 grams. Campagnolo keeps its G3 spoke pattern and asymmetric spoke layout. The company says that design improves lateral stiffness.

The wheels also retain Campagnolo’s adjustable Cup & Cone bearing system. The rims use high-modulus unidirectional carbon with a C-LUX direct mould finish. Campagnolo manufactures the wheels in its European facilities.

The Zonda Carbon All Road is available now for €1,420. That makes it €870 less than Campagnolo’s higher-end Bora X gravel wheelset. Freehub options include N3W, HG11 and XDR.

Reserve 48|53 GR goes wide for aero gravel

Reserve’s new 48|53 GR moves in a different direction. The wheelset uses a 30mm internal width, putting it among the wide-rim gravel options.

Reserve says the shape helps airflow stay attached to larger gravel tires. The design aims to reduce the lightbulb profile that can form with wider tires on narrower rims.

The external width measures 44mm. That points toward pairing the wheels with tires around 45mm, based on the stated rim dimensions.

Reserve uses a design it calls Hollow Hook to reduce weight at the outer rim. The brand says the approach cuts material without giving up strength or reliability.

The wheels carry a lifetime warranty and have no rider weight limit. Reserve uses a semi-hooked rim profile for the 48|53 GR.

Claimed weight depends on hub choice. The DT 180 build weighs 1,433 grams, while the DT 350 version weighs 1,528 grams. Pricing starts at $1,799 for the DT 350 build and rises to $2,499 with DT 180 hubs.

The model has also appeared in elite racing. The wheels have been identified as the setup used by Cannondale Factory Racing in World Cup XCC events.
