Lorenzo Finn prepares for Red Bull WorldTour jump after Seixas benchmark

Lorenzo Finn will race the closing Italian events with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe before his full WorldTour move in 2027.

The 19-year-old Italian talent is completing a 2026 season built around professional apprenticeship. He has spent the year with the Red Bull Development team, while also joining the senior squad at times.

Finn’s next races will come on familiar roads in Italy. He is due to start the Giro dell’Emilia this Saturday, then Tre Valli Varesine on October 6 and Gran Piemonte on October 8.

Those outings will close a campaign that has strengthened his status as one of cycling’s leading young stage race prospects. They also come as comparisons with Paul Seixas continue to follow him.

Lorenzo Finn takes motivation from Seixas

Finn and Seixas were rivals in the junior ranks. Their careers now appear aligned again, with both moving toward the sport’s biggest stage races.

Seixas won the Giro della Lunigiana as a junior. He then won the Tour de l’Avenir in 2025 during his first season with Decathlon CMA CGM.

The Frenchman has already made a major step at senior level. This season, he finished fourth on his Tour de France debut.

Seixas turned 20 during the World Championships in Montreal. Cramps affected his road race there, where he eventually finished 15th.

Finn is three months younger than Seixas. His route has included two years in the under-23 category, but the outline remains similar.

He twice finished second at the Giro della Lunigiana. Last year, he won the under-23 world title in Rwanda.

In 2026, Finn won the Giro d’Italia Next Gen and the Tour de l’Avenir while racing for Red Bull Development. He also took professional wins at the Sibiu Cycling Tour in the summer.

Finn told La Gazzetta dello Sport that Seixas’s rise gives him motivation. He added that his old rival is still "human too".

He also noted the level at the front in Montreal. According to Finn, Del Toro was the only under-23 rider among those riders.

Finn said seeing what Seixas has achieved encourages him. He added that he hopes to follow a similar path.

Italian races close Finn’s 2026 build-up

Finn also raced the elite men’s road race at the World Championships in Montreal. He finished 55th after testing himself across 280km.

He admitted the distance took a toll. The Italian races should offer a different challenge, with shorter courses than the Worlds.

Finn said he felt good for the first three or four hours in Montreal. After that, he said his energy gradually faded.

He still valued the experience against elite riders. He said races of 280km feel very different from the 160km to 170km distances he knows better.

Seixas is expected to finish his own season at Il Lombardia on October 10. Finn’s calendar ends shortly before that, with Gran Piemonte on October 8.

Grand Tour ambitions already forming

After his off-season, Finn will formally join the Red Bull WorldTour squad. The team’s 2027 roster will include Remco Evenepoel, Florian Lipowitz, Giulio Pellizzari and Jai Hindley.

Red Bull have not yet defined their Grand Tour leaders or objectives for 2027. Finn, however, already has clear ambitions for his first three-week race.

He told La Gazzetta dello Sport that riding the Giro d’Italia would be special. He also said the Vuelta could suit him, especially with more professional experience in his legs.

Finn said he has not yet discussed those plans with the team. For now, his focus remains on ending 2026 strongly in Italy.
