Isaac del Toro contract security now stretches to 2031 after UAE Team Emirates-XRG extended the Mexican rider’s deal by two years.
The 22-year-old had already agreed terms through 2029 with the WorldTour squad. His new agreement keeps him with the team for the next five years and ranks among the longest deals in professional cycling.
UAE Team Emirates-XRG moved to secure Del Toro after a season that strengthened his status as one of the sport’s leading young riders. The extension also keeps him tied to the team beyond several established and emerging names on its roster.
Isaac del Toro contract extends beyond Pogačar’s deal
Del Toro’s new commitment now runs one year longer than Tadej Pogačar’s current contract. Pogačar, his teammate and mentor, has a deal with UAE Team Emirates-XRG until 2030.
The agreement also outlasts the current terms held by two other young UAE talents. Pablo Torres, 20, and Jan Christen, 22, have both committed to the team until 2030.
Whether the move affects speculation over UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s reported interest in Paul Seixas remains unclear. The 19-year-old French rider currently races for Decathlon CMA CGM.
Del Toro will not ride the upcoming Vuelta a España. Even so, his season has already given UAE strong reasons to plan around him for the long term.
He won the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and then produced a major Grand Tour performance at the Tour de France. There, he finished third overall, won a stage, and claimed the white jersey as best young rider.
Those results followed his breakthrough ride at the 2025 Giro d’Italia. Del Toro won stages, wore the pink jersey, and finished second overall.
Mexican rider says UAE environment suits his future
Del Toro has also settled into a key support role for Pogačar. The Slovenian champion has repeatedly praised him and backed his development inside the dominant WorldTour team.
In comments released by UAE Team Emirates-XRG, Del Toro said the team “feels like home.” He pointed to shared ambition, a strong racing culture, and confidence in his development path.
“Signing long-term gives me a lot of confidence,” Del Toro said, adding that he believes he is in the right place for his future.
He also said the team had already achieved major victories with him, while stressing that bigger targets remain ahead. Del Toro said he wants to keep growing and fight for the biggest races in the world.
The Mexican rider credited the team’s staff and riders for creating an environment that has helped him progress. He said he has learned something new every season from teammates and people around him.
The extension underlines UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s strategy of locking in both established champions and elite young riders. With Pogačar, Del Toro, Torres, and Christen all secured through at least 2030, the team has built unusually long-term continuity.
For Del Toro, the deal confirms his place near the centre of those plans. It also gives UAE Team Emirates-XRG another potential Grand Tour leader for the years beyond its current Pogačar era.
